Weird Disk Sewn Into Lining Of Coat ... What Is It?
14 Answers
I have a coat - made by Yiner.
there are 3 large buttons, but today i noticed that about the same distance down from the lowest button, there is a smaller disk, sewn into the lining.
it is about the same level as the top of the pockets - it looks like where they'd place another button, but didn't
it is not a spare button, as it is flat - and it is totally sealed in - the only way to get it out would be too cut that fabric or unpick the seam.
it did not have a button sewn there as there is no evidence of stitches nor is there a button hole.
it has a square of stitches holding it in place.
on the opposite side there is the same square of stitching - but no disk- it is just what appears to be a rough piece of plasticy stuff - stiff but also crumply, and it clicks ad crinkles when i press it.
neither appear to have any function
any ideas what they are are for?
thanks

The other option is to go to Google images and see if there is a coat that looks like yours and see what information you can find out.
Failing that wait until morning when somebody will come along who actually knows the answer. It is amazing the amount of useless information is held in the brains of our fellow AB persons.
A couple of the coats that I looked at were nice - but I hate wearing a coat so there would be no point in me buying one. :-)

Yeah - the answer is there in Google-land but using the right words in the search is crucial.
Anyway boy cat has just knocked over something heavy and I am sure that we have woken up the folk downstairs. We will now toddle off to bed. His sister is 'helping' me type this - I am going to throttle her in a minute of two.
I hope that you get your answer. Once you set off to find something it becomes addictive.

It's probably an EAS ('electronic article surveillance') tag, which are quite often sewn into clothing:
