and buy accordingly
make your own soups and serve with lovely fresh bread.
utilise free food available to all, vblackberries, etc and freeze surplus for the winter months.
if you have surplus fruit make your own jam
make your own pickles and chutmeys, so easy to do.
try and bulk buy whenever you see an item you use regularly on offer.
add a lot of assorted veg to your meat, eg monce to make your meat go further
fill up with homemade puddings eg rice puddings,
shop in smaller supermarket/ shops so you arent tempted to pick up a lot of items you dont need.
make stews and casseroles in your slow cooker, and bulk it up with lots of veg and pearl barley, etc.
dont shop when you are hungry. it will make you pick up items you dont need.
eat porage every morning will fill you up and make you less likely to snack between meals.
