Not really a category for this but have any of you been involved in a beach wedding that is actually on the sand? What kind of shoes were worn? Is heels a possibility, possibly wedges?

Heels would dig into sand. Anything else including wedges should be fine.
Question Author
That's what I thought grasscarp but others have told me heels are OK. Have you actually been to one (I haven't)?
What about the catering ? Will it be a buffet? If so, it gives a whole new meaning to SANDwiches.
No never been to one. Have googled your predicament.
Suggestions 1. Wear espadrilles. 2 there may be boards under sand so no problem. 3. Buy solemates which stop the Sinking.
Question Author
It's confirmed that it's directly onto sand. Espadrilles is probably not formal enough - thanks for the Solemates, never heard of them , they look interesting.
Shoes? Just go in bare feet.

Are you getting married then?

On a beech?........How exciting.

I have been on a beech at night with a married woman...does that count?

She didn't have anything on her feet..............
beach............ooops!
Question Author
yeah I reckon you meant beech all along....
Haven't attended one but saw more than a few when I went to Dominican Republic for 2 weeks. The walk to the make shift table/alter was wooden decking and the area where the congregation sat had raffia matting on the sand. Everyone attending the wedding looked really hot dressed up with swimsuit clad people on sun loungers lying all around them. I thought it was quite a funny spectacle (if that is the correct word)
flip flops,
Sycamore.....very good.....but the question was.........."what kind of shoes were worn?"
sparkly flipflops :-)
Question Author
I know sparkly flip-flops is definitely the most sensible option (and out of the question) , I was wondering though if anyone knew how heels went down!
I've seen plenty of weddings on TV on beaches and they still wear the big meringues with trains so wondered what they had on their feet.
why are flip flops out of the question ?
I would wear wellington boots myself but everybody to their own I suppose.
I've been to two - both in the Caribbean - and have watched others in various places. Bare feet is the order of the day - even with the posh frocks.
