Is there a web-site you can go on to stop nuisance calls? They are bothering a neighbour of mine who is in a wheelchair and its really getting to them as they struggle to answer the phone, thinking its family, just to be asked if they want a new boiler fitted -thanks in advance, its really bothering this poor old soul in her nineties.
saintpeter48 ... glad you like it. Nice to hear from someone who dares to risk £30.00 on an unknown quantity !
I have been registered with TPS for as long as I can remember and it got to the point where we unplug the landline in the afternoon if you wanted a bit of peace and quiet. I'm sure somewhere in India, my phone number is on a wall, with a note beside it saying ... "This guy loves to do surveys"
Fit a call blocker and ........ The silence is golden.
There is a limit as to what you can do if they are calling from abroad. And I think I'm right saying adherence to any list is voluntary ? Caller Display is good, ignore any numbers not in your directory.
OG ... caller display involves interuption of your time, as you have to physically look at the display everytime the phone rings before making a decision on wheter to answer it or not.
So you are still receiving those nuisance calls ... your phone still rings.
Whereas the call blocker gradually learns which calls you dont want and stops your phone from ringing at all.... Silence .... or at least a vast reduction in unwanted calls.
I might be wrong but I'm afraid .. it's anything to make life easier for me !
One of the problems with Caller Display is that a lot of numbers will come up as Witheld and you have no way of knowing if this is a nuisance call or if this is an important call from a Hospital/GP/Bank etc. How does the Call Blocker know which is which?
See what I mean ... you physically have to get up and check it to see it's withheld. The call is still a nuisance.
If the call doesn't arrive in the first place ... you dont get disturbed.
Ps. My Doctors surgery withhold their number my bank, my credit card suppliers and many others that I would prefer to speak to if they wanted me... with caller display only ... you would ignore all of them.
