How Much Codeine

Hi,

Patient waiting for a mri, ( which will be sunday) but in the meantime has been sent home with some 60mg codeine tablets, and some ant-sickness tablets. instructions say no more than two codeine tablets four times a day. Hospital was dispensing them with paracetamol, we don't know how much paracetamol, we just assume it was two 500 m tablets. pain releif works for about three hours ( still lots of pain, but not so terrible) would it be safe to take a dose every 4 hours if needed, if not, why?

2 x 60mg 4 times per day? I would say no but I'm no doctor.

2*60mgms codeine plus 1000mgms paracetamol every 4 hours seem fine to me.

Be really careful not to take too much of either. Read the instructions carefully. If in double your local pharmacist will give you advice.
