Wales and Scotland are both counties in England
Cumberland hasn't been a county for over 40 years. What about Durham?
... And in an inappropriate category
Unless this was on tv in which case what programme?
Pointless
I remember years ago when watching someone on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. The question was, which club plays cricket at Chester Le Street.
This was for the full 1 million and he didn't know.
I was screaming at the telly.
He took the lower prize. I don't blame him, but ohhh I wish I'd been his phone a friend and the option was still left at that point.
Actually, it might have been which ground to Durham play at.
Either way I knew lol.
How can Bath and Chelmsford be answers? Surely they are grounds where counties which end in shire play.Although to the best of my knowledge the Bath festival no longer takes place.
Sorry, which do not end in shire play.

///Wales and Scotland are both counties in England///

Priceless, well done that man!!!

Essex play at Chelmsford, grumpy.

If it helps JL'

ENGLAND is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west.

WALES is a country that is part of the United Kingdom and the island of Great Britain,

SCOTLAND is a country that is part of the United Kingdom and covers the northern third of the island of Great Britain.

And POINTLESS is a BBC programme that is POINTLESS.
Err, Baldric I think you can insert one of these // :P // at the end of Joeluke's post.

And possibly mine as well, who knows?
Indeed. :p
Pointless it may be, but a couple won £9,000.00 today. They were ,very happy.
FrogNog...... I remember that million pound question. It was " where are the headquarters of Durham CCC?" It made it all the more puzzling that the contestant didn't know the answer, because his name (I kid you not) was Peter Lee, which is also the name of a town in the county.

I remember that one too. The answers were something like Durham, Essex, Warwickshire and Somerset - i.e. the other three choices of counties weren't far north. If the question had simply been "Where is Chester Le Street?" then they would almost certainly have got it (considering they were smart enough to get to £500,000) but the "cricket" part seemed to simply throw them. I too was screaming at the TV ... I think this was before Judith Keppel won the first million.
