Yes he can come here. There is free movement across Europe.
He just needs to sort his phone out, change up some money, pack some clothes and a passport and he's done.

No procedure, he can just come here as easily as moving to the next town.
The EU is effectively all one country as far as travel and living are concerned.
Your daughter can go and live in Holland just as easily.

^^^With regard to registering a car (for UK tax), a visitor to this country can drive a foreign-registered vehicle for up to 6 months without needing to register it here but anyone taking up permanent residence here (i.e. no longer having a principal address abroad) is required to register it immediately.

Thanks for asking Eddie, the answer is that we are still struggling. We have sent for and received a import pack. For some reason they want a certificate of conformity (the car was originally registered British and all EU countries have the same standards so we are baffled as to why - it has a French Certificate of Conformity as well). It is a Renault and when we contacted Renault they require a clearly legible photo (A PHOTO!) of the VIN plate with the application. My camera won't even fit into the space and there is no way I am skilled enough to get a legible picture - and I'm getting a bit desperate. I need to take it for a service soon and I'll ask the garage for help. Honestly, you'ld think I was importing a tank. I'll probably be back with more questions - there's a 14 day time limit once you start the process so no pressure at all!!!

So, tezmand, I am not joking about the car - everything else iseasy!

They need a photo to prove it is a real VIN not one you have made up.
Could a mobile phone camera do it? they are a lot smaller than a full camera?
You can then download the picture from your phone and print it.

Thanks so much for your answers and the congratulations he really is a lovely guy speaks and understands English but finds our accent bit hard as we are from midlands. The Black Country my daughter would of gone to live in holland but she doesn't speak a word. Of Dutch no clogs coming with him I promise lol he gas a job in holland. In order to work in the UK, he'll need a National Insurance number:

If he registers with a local GP he'll automatically be issued with an NHS number.

English is taught as a compulsory second language in Holland from primary school age. I have been to Holland many times and never met anyone who did not speak perfect English. You even find Dutch people in a bar talking to each other in English! What a contrast to France!

the languages they learn at skool - English French Dutch ( Nederlands ) and German - all of them - - blimey

but it wasnt always like that and in the nineties when I was there
the over-fifties were excused working with me as in an emergency they might not understand what I said

I was in the Netherlands in 1989 and everyone I spoke to spoke perfect English.
