Phishing Email ?

I've had an email purposrting to be from PayPal saying that my account has been limited due to unusual activity and giving me a link to my account to deal with the matter. They also site a 'Case ID number.'

The email is adressed to ' Dear PayPal Client' which rang alarm bells and I've logged into my PP account through the website and can find no outstanding issues.

Can anyone advise, please as I don't want to click on the link provided.

Yes it is a scam. Paypal will always address you by name. You did the right thing logging into Paypal through their website.

If anyone else gets a message like this then Forward it unopened to [e-mail]. The more people who report these phishing attempts the more ISP addresses PayPal can bar.

i usually report them to paypal, hmrc, amazon, etc but I have real doubts as to whether they can do anything about it- I doubt any, or more than a tiny few ever get tracked down and prosecuted, and spammers can easily set up many new accounts as soon as one is closed off

I've had them, but they always shoot into my junk mail, which rather gives the game away.

If you do forward them to spoof@paypal... you often need to copy all the headers too as the true email address of the sender is not always what appears on the email.
If only senders of emails were charged aa nominal 1p for each email many spammers would soon find it wasn't worth their while

I forward them to [e-mail]. That gets a response and sometimes they reply to say it's a fraudulent site.

I got this today as well.
Knew it was a scam straight away because the email it went to is not the one I use with paypal. Also very amateurish and from a dodgy address.
