Do you ever wear a hat?
I wore one for my wedding but only because my sister insisted I should. I've worn a fascinator twice and regretted it both times, both went to the charity shop. I have three fleece hats for dog walking or serious walking, one's lilac with a sort of tied up top, one's rainbow striped, and the other is white with a blue turn up, all three are very warm. I have two hats for wearing in the sun, one has a large floppy brim, the other is a white cotton pull on, makes me look like a geography teacher.
I'm not a hat person.
I look ridiculous in hats. I have a fleecy one for winter walks when I dont care what I look like just as long as I'm warm.
If in had to wear a hat for a formal occasion I know a lovely milliner who knows exactly what style suits an individual. Her hats are beautiful but damn expensive.
I never cared much for hats, but as one ages, and one's natural thatch disappears, it's a case if either wear one or get one's head frozen/sunburnt. After one gets used to wearing one it seems more natural. And being older one is less fussy about looking odd. Got past that stage.
Flat cap for work and everyday wear; trilby for best or when dressed up.
Used to have a fedora, which I loved, until I caught sight of myself in the mirror when I had heavy 'designer' stubble - looked more Jewish than the chief Rabbi, so out it went.
I wear a sun hat in summer (only in the garden - not in public) and a woolly hat in very cold winters. I look ridiculous in both, but they keep me more comfortable. My son got married this year and I wondered about wearing a hat, but didn't buy one. Thankfully. I would have looked a fool. It was a very casual wedding.
So what hats do you wear OG?
I read somewhere that there's a hat out there which to suit everyone. I'm not convinced. I always thought I'd wear one for a very special occasion but I don't think there will ever be an occasion which would make me wear one, even a visit to the palace (unlikely).
Ooh, Tilly, what are your hats like and when do you wear them? Apart from your Tilley hat?
Oh heck, captain, that made me laugh ;)
Clover, I have a pact with the potential mother in law of my youngest, that should the occasion ever occur, neither of us will wear a hat, phew! We may both do a 'turn' though, not sure which would be the most embarrassing, not for us but for the youngsters!
I have at least six beanie hats, fur hats... white, black and cream, Peruvian dangly, over the ears hats, crocheted hats, one Tilley hat, three cloche hats for best, four straw hats, cotton, summery slouch hats and one very expensive wedding type bit of frippery.
