Feel so stupid I fell for this - a 'friend' messaged me on fb and asked if I could accept some money through paypal and transfer to their account - didn't think anything of it and did it ok, money came into my paypal so I transferred to my bank and then transferred to account details I was given. Then asked for the same again as it was in two halves - no problem I thought. Then when a third time she asked I began to wonder what was going on and now it turns out she had been hacked and now they have requested the payment back from paypal. Have spoken to my bank who are investigating but not sure what to do next. Paypal haven't got anyone I can speak to tonight but I am worried what will happen. Anyone got any advice apart from stop being so gullible?
Seriously sympathize with you. FB is the work of the devil and ought to be avoided at all costs.I have witnessed the grief the younger members of our family have got into. No way hossay.
I have received a raft of emails from paypay saying the buyer did not authorise the payment and is requesting a refund. One payment has gone through but the next two are on hold. Paypal are telling me to put the amount into my paypal account to cover it.
Spoken to paypal who say they cannot take any money out of my bank without my authorisation so that's one worry sorted but they say my bank should be able to claim back the money from the bank it was paid to and once back in my account I can settle the paypal account. Told me not to worry it happens a lot! Why can't this be stopped?
Lankeela ring your bank asap. I think PayPal are being over optimistic about the Banks willingness to refund you money you have sent of your own free will to another persons account. Fingers crossed x
