Is/Has Anyone Tried Slimming World?

I've been looking on their site but the suggested daily food is far more than I eat already with lots of pasta dishes. Does it work? I don't eat wheat products as I'm gluten sensitive and don't crave sugar really, only the odd pack of jelly babies which is the reason I've gained a few pounds in lockdown, that and too much wine which is being addressed. I know a few people who have lost lots of weight with them, but they are folks that had a problem with portion control and gluttony which I don't. I need to lose around 15 lbs 20lbs would be nice but 15 will bring me down to a medically acceptable wieght. Any suggestions on good diets to follow would be welcome, except Keto which I tried and it made me ill. Thanks!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I do it , I got a it complacent with my weight after always being about 12-14, I went to an 18, was shocked as I was wearing comfy joggers, I lost 2 1/2 stone , I find it easy to follow but be prepared for a lot of tomato non the dishes , I’ve rejoined via Zoom ( lockdown fat) first session is tonight at 7-30
I did it...on my own...a number of years ago. Looking back, it just gave me permission to over indulge in carbs, not what *my* body needs.
About 9 years ago, my eating was out of control, dud mostly to pasta, bread and rice binges. I found a "diet" based on the premise of not mixing carbs(starchy plant based) with fats (all animal products...meat, fish, dairy etc). This is because carbohydrates stimulate the body's insulin response which in turn causes the body to store fat. I lost 1.5 stone in 3 months and ate plenty. I still follow the same principles. It works for me. You need to find what suits you.
As for keto, if you're not already low carb you get something called the keto flu. It's mostly down to electrolytes depletion. Eating no junk or processed food often means consuming less salt. But, maybe it just didn't suit you.

Pasta, I don't eat any wheat products as I have become gluten sensitive due to other medical issues. I think I went overboard with the Keto and became ill - dizzy, temperature, nauseous, and found the amount of fat one is supposed to consume daily a bit off putting. I like all meats, veg and although I could give up pasta -at the moment I use gluten free maize pasta - I do enjoy potatoes in all their forms. I never eat junk food -unless the odd take away maybe once a month counts, everything is cooked from scratch.
This diet you found Pasta -what are the principles? Can you have say a jacket potato on its own with butter but not with a protein? Steak with salad but no chips? Has it got a name or is it something you have developed.? It sounds like something I could follow.

APG, If you had a jacket potato...no butter, but any low fat cottage cheese, beans, roast veg, etc. I *think* even prawns as they are low fat.
Keto doesn't require loads of fat...protein needs should always be met first. Going OTT with fat is a common mistake.
