I keep hearing stuff about it … I heard that most people will complete it online. But what will actually happen, will they write to people to tell them which web address to go to, or email (HOW?) or something else

It does say to do it on Sunday 21st March, so I don't think you should do it before then.

I submitted mine online yesterday, because I know I’ll be the only one in my house on 21st, tomorrow, today and everyday in between.

No problem, barsel... it is a good point. Maybe they should say "must" instead of "should", if that's what they mean... x

When I was doing my family tree, I noticed my grandfather wasn't on the census with the rest of his family. This is because he was at boarding school, so he was on their census. I think you are right though, they should have said not to fill it in before that date.

Or not activate it. If they are allowing them to be submitted and accepted, I'm sure people will.

You can fill it in beforehand according to the website, and then call to let them know if anything has changed:

When to complete your census
Every household should complete the census on Sunday 21 March 2021 or as soon as possible after. If you’ve responded before 21 March and things have changed, you can let us know by calling us free. You can find the numbers on our contact us page after 1 March.

I have to admit, if I get mangled by a bus, my first thought won't be "must call the census people!"

With the best will in the world, I cannot imagine the website coping with the load of everyone accessing it on the same day. But I will wait until then to enter our names otherwise I will feel that I'm tempting fate!!

i have done mine online, about 15 minutes

You just log on using the number they provide and some personal info then complete the form and click to send, it gives an email receipt confirming completion if you want one.
