If you had to light a candle for someone, who would it be?
Right now I would light a candle for young Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, which I know is probably an obvious choice at this very moment. On any ordinary day I would light a candle for someone I've lost and on 18 December I will light a candle for Alfie, my other baby (of the four-legged variety) who fell asleep forever 5 years ago.
If you had to light a candle this evening, who would it be for?
The same...and also for the most recent young victims of gun crime in the States.
In both cases, young lives have been lost for totally unforgivable and avoidable reasons.
Some living human being in need of light or warmth. Not for a dead or absent friend. Sorry for being a non-religious unsentimental so-and-so.
I realise and respect your presumably RC traditions.
Young Arthur obviously, poor poor child. My mum, who I was with when she died aged just 59 - you never ever get over watching someone actually pass away x
