Do You Think I Would Be Taking The ***...

Our ancient Potterton 60e has become irreparable so we need a new gas boiler. Not combi or condenser as last year our hot water tank in the airing cupboard leaked through the ceiling so we spent about £1800 on a new tank. I think it may be called a system boiler. We have a budget of £2500 max and after trawling the internet are bamboozled by different makes, costs, efficiency etc. can anyone recommend a good make with a 10 year guarantee (some cheaper ones only have 5 or 7) for a 4 bed detached property with 2 showers and 1 bath, 12 radiators. We are very cold and because the immersion heating won't come on, we have no hot water. Any help very appreciated.

The big names: Ideal; Worcester Bosch; Vaillant; Grant, plus some of the lesser know names: Vogue; Viessman; Alpha. They can all offer 10 year warranties.
I would be much much more inclined to concentrate on the installer. Recommendations certainly. Look for someone you're comfortable with . Someone who really cares about their work (yes, they do exist.)
The best boilers in the world can still be messed up by incompetent installation and indifferent follow-up.
Good luck 😀
The last property I lived in had a Potterton 100e combi-boiler (I think rated 30kW) and that was a 3 bedroom end of terrace house. I would say that your 60e model, well under rated for a four bed detached house.
Boilers can be purchased for less than £1,000 – so the cost of install will eat up most of your budget. Back in around the year 2000 my then boss had a combi-boiler replacement done, he shopped around and managed on a total budget of £1,500. What with inflation I think you will do well to get it done for £2,500.
