Remote Control
I keep buying new remote controls but they keep failing.
This time last year I bought a compatable replacement for £8 but it lasted just a few months so I bought a genuine replacement £25. That was about 8 months ago.
This evening is has stopped working. I've changed the batteries, I've cleaned it, I've rebooted the TV and the Humax box, still nothing.
Thoughts? Suggestions gratefully received.

Try barry's suggestion with the other one just to prove to yourself you are doing it properly. The red light should be flashing when you press any button on the remote (your phone camera is sensitive to the light emitted by the remote; your eye isn't).
If there's no flashing light from either remote and one of them works you're doing something wrong. You have to keep a button on the remote pressed whilst you look at the phone display. Try different buttons and have the phone as close to the remote as you can and pointing straight at it. The light is not very bright but should be visible.
