a friend has been on a council waiting list for nearly 10 years -would the council offer him any financial inducement to move off the list and purchase his own property? also do councils sell any of their housing stock other than right to buy ?

being on the list for 10 years basically means he'll never get to the top.people jump the queues all the time by evictions or moving into the area.

The councils use a point sytem to move people up the waiting list. The worst possible senario is being male, single without kids and outside any special needs group. If you fall into this catagory there is practically no chance of getting a house. Councils sell off their housing stock to housing associations, who broadly speaking apply the same rules.

tell your mate to have a kid, pack his job in, get outed as a gay/lesbian but stay single, cut a leg off so he's disabled, and anything else that will make him jump the queue. he'll get a place dead quick. it works for so many spongers we tax payers support!

obviously not all people getting council places are spongers but i've seen two people just lately who have "played the system" and are a total drain on society.(i'm pregnant, give me a place.no i don't want a job, i'm claiming benifits coz i'm entitled to!)

all you good honest folks this is not directed at you, but at the wasters our modern society produces.

i've just paid my tax for this year thats why i'm bitter!
