Washing Up

I've just done my washing up - used detergent and washed the plates well - i've left them in my drainer and they've started to smell like wet dogs. This happens quite a lot.When I rinse them under the cold tap - the smell sometimes goes away, but more often than not i've got to wash them a few times. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks in advance.

Too mush washing up liquid? I find that rinsing them under the hot tap is more effective for getting rid of the suds and smell, also makes drying them easier too.

I have the exact same problem, I end up washing the same things over and over again. Will now do as Boo says.

Get yourself a dishwasher Carlos - they are fantastic. I don't even mind emptying it because evrything is so sparkly and clean

Please don't take offence, but is your drainer all sparkly clean? They can get quite scummy quite quickly so it's possible that is the problem. As i say, don't take offence! My flatmate is a kind of weird semi-clean-freak - yet he doesn't seem to understand that it's not just the immediately obvious dirt that needs wiping away but that you actually need to pick stuff up and clean underneath, too... :)

the smell might be coming from the overflow pipe. fill your sink to the brim to check if its possibly blocked.

Thanks for all the answers folks - I reckon the dishwasher is the way to go - No offence taken BetsyLou - valid point but the whole sink area gets cleaned daily - gonna check my overflow pipe when i get in tomorrow. Cheers
