I stand to be corrected, but I think the Dornier Do-X flying boat with 12 engines holds the record. Heres a piccy. http://www.sunny-side-up.de/Online-Katalog/bil der/DornierDoX-Virginia.jpg
Crikey ...wouldn't want to fill that up at 5 a gallon
Luckily petrol was a bit cheaper in the 30's naz!
Blimey, 12 engines!

I was thinking of the Convair B36 but that only has 10 engines:

The most engines on a current aircraft in service is the Boeing B52 Stratofortress with 8.

Aye, the B52 will eventually go down to 4 engines when its engines are replaced by more modern turbofans but I'm not sure of the timescale for that.
I first thought of this one

only 10 though they're all jet engines and the 'plane' weighs 540 tonns. It doenst fly in the normal sence but uses ground effect to gain a little lift and low drag (see web page)
Must admit hamish that I had thought of looking for a picture of the Russian Ekranoplane (known as 'The Caspian Sea Monster'), but thought this probably did fit faith's question, as strictly speaking it is not an aeroplane.
