This one I found is 15.99 - that's presuming they're the same kind of thing.

Unless you use it a lot - I wouldn't change it so much. You'll notice a difference if you take it off - the ice in the machine wont be as n-ice !
You can get a male/male adapter to rejoin each end of the pipe supplying the water - I think B & Q would do such a thing or fish tank supplies.

Really ?- Ours doesn't do that. Ours is an LG and has the inline filter similar to the one in the picture - I think you can use any filter have a look at the instructions. Is there a timer or a calculation used to know when to stop the ice making/waterflow ? Or is there something in the filter - a flow counter to measure how much and then cut off the supply ? I've never heard of it but I'm sad to say it fascinates me !!! I can't see that leaving it a little longer than usual would necessitate a cut off device - I'm intrigued - maybe it's their way of getting oyu to spend more on their filters ?
I have one of the Samsung American style fridges and get my filters off the net, delivered for 12.00. They last 6 months - the fridge has a timer in it to prompt to change the filter. This timer can be reset - I think it is pressing down the childlock button and the power freeze button together for around three seconds.
