Why the pop-up things?

What is it with the pop-up boxes at the top left of the screen? It's enough to put a person off the site altogether. How can I make them go away for ever?

also toglet, ABsite downloads at least 6 malicious cookies onto your pc every visit;they send back information from your pc about your browsing habits etc. These webpirates store it and sell it to any nefarious powerfreaks with sufficient shekels, for whatever purpose they feel fit; it's big business. Get Analogx cookiewall freeware to stop adviva, bluestreak, atdmt, doubleclick, valueclick, hitbox, bfast, mediaplex, gator, etc.

You can deny access to a particular server ( such as the server that places the ads on AB ) by putting an entry in your hosts file ( usually found in your windows directory )The entry should take the form :

0.0.0.0 unwantedserver.com
This tell your browser to look for this server on IP address 0.0.0.0. When it cannot be found it gives up and won't bother looking on the www. I do this on my favourite sites like AB to stop the ads.

Answerbok I took your advice and downloaded Analogx cookie wall and since then I haven't had the annoying pop up on this site. Is that coincidence or has the Analogx stopped it ?

hi anthompson, my popup square has stopped too; i'm using a new freeware stopper called 'noflash' AND panicware together. seems good but maybe AB stopped using that square now? My analogx which i think is brilliant; i did a clean install of Windoze, now analogx not installing, hey ho. However, i got emery's Sweeper which is also brill. Anyway it's a shame we got to do all this but it Will get worse.. i remember when the web was more userfriendly.. and proper newsgroups too.
