I began a 3yr nursing studies course at University in October last year. I was there for around six months and I completed my first semester, and past all four of my first year module exams. Three of them with credit/merit. The problem is I don't know if they are worth anything since I left the programme early? They awarded me 15 credits for each module, do these benefit me in any way? Can i use them in any way?

I seriously doubt it. They may credit you if you redo the same or similar course but most other institutions will ask you to do their version. A friend of mine's Biochemistry degree was not credited at all when he went on to train to be a MD.

Your credits are of benefit to you in the sense that should you choose to complete that degree (or choose another very similar degree) you should not be required to sit those particular subjects again. However, all institutions have their own rules on this and one university/college is not obliged to recognise the credits of another. Also, look into whether your credits are only valid for a certain length of time. Usually, they are valid for a three year period, so if you do not recommence your degree in that time, the credits 'expire'. From an employment perspective, I very much doubt that your credits are of any benefit to you to be honest as potential employers will not recognise your credits as a qualification in their own right.

The Open University recognises credits from other institutions. Completing one year of a degree gives you 120 points so you would only have to do another 240 to get a degree with them. Worth looking into if you want a degree. http://www3.open.ac.uk/credit-transfer/
