I have been sent a Notice of Intended Prosecution for a speeding offence. The offence happened while I was working with a number of Police Officers and they will confirm I wasnt driving the car at the time. I am not sure who was driving the car (it is one of four people) as they cant remember who was driving at the particular time (I havent told them about the ticket). If I can prove that I wasnt the driver can I still be fined?

I can go back years and remember who drove on a certain trip. I dont think it is something that you can forget, due to events and coversation on the journey, which point to who the driver was.
pezza - I sympathise fully with you. This is a highly controversial area, and is discussed in some detail on the Association of British Drivers web site.

I am very impressed by robber1's recollection. I am afraid I don't share his memory power, and I doubt if very many other people do either. Good luck, I would imagine you have a valid defence, but unfortunately this obsession with prosecuting easy targets such as motorists has reached the stage where you are assumed guilty 'til you can prove your innnocence.
