If you are getting hot water but no hot rads then the circulation pump has failed.

circulation pump is a possibility, also your radiators may need bleeding, (they could be full of air)

Yes its pretty common for pumps to fail at this time of year, they are basically not happy about be being called back in to use after a summer of inactivity.

But the pump may be just stuck. Find your pump (normally in the airing cupboard near the hot water tank).It will be mounted on a hot pipe and have an electric cable going to it. It is a bit bigger than a baked bean tin on its side and should have a silver round bit in the middle (about the size of a 10p) with a slot in it to take a screw driver(Most common make is Grundfos). Unscrew this silver disc (a couple of drops of water may come out, don't worry). In the hole is either a nut or slot for a screw driver. This is the end of the pump spindle. It should turn fairly easily. If it is stuck you may need to use a little force to get it to turn. Once you have moved it a bit, trip your heating and hopefully(!) you should hear the pump start to turn. If not, trying turning it again. Good luck!

Wouldnt mind betting sddsddean has hit the nail on the head - happens to me every autumn -1st CH start up . follow his instructions . Max 5 mins a child could do it.

Its also worth checking your header tank for the heating hasn't got a stuck valve at the system has run out of water. That happened to a friend of mine and she called out a plumber - �60 for a quick thump on the valve!

...or you could bash the pump with a hammer...not too hard ... but I did this once on some advice from a friend and the pump is still going
