For the next couple of weeks or so, I won't be able to drive to the supermarket and am thinking about ordering groceries etc online. Do any of you have any good/bad stories or just general advice please. P.S. I have been relying on my parents over the last few weeks and think it is time I gave them a break!

(1) I'm a great fan of Tesco internet shopping. They are very reliable, choice is good and I haven't had any problems that haven't been of my own doing! Your first shop takes longest while you find your way around the departments, but after that you have a list of favourites you can return to, and you become familiar with the lay-out very quickly. When your groceries are delivered the driver will give you a print-out and ask you to check it. If they have needed to make any substitutions these will be noted at the top and you can decide whether to keep the items or not. Your shopping is sectioned into bags according to type of stuff (frozen, fresh produce, dairy, houshold etc) which makes putting them away quicker too. I haven't had any problems with quality of fresh produce, everything seems to be picked well. The mistakes - I once ended up with 4 x 4lb chickens instead of 1 because I misunderstood the ordering weights. I have also ended up with 2 carrier bags full of carrots! The over-orders were taken back by the driver without any hassle and the money credited back to my account. (2) Iceland & Sainsbury's - have used these less often and again found them excellent. HAPPY SHOPPING! (ps. I think it's also a wise way to shop, for me anyway, because you are more aware of what you are buying and less likely to get to checkout with spontaneous items you put in bottom of trolley and have already forgotten about!)
My experiences are also positive. Christmas is made sooo easy by thes services. Simply select what you want some time in advance and select a delivery slot, when it becomes available, at a time to suit you. It's quite amazing how suitable late evening delivery slots can be to those who work all day. My only key advice echos that above - watch your lbs and Kgs.If you usually measure in store visually, having to specify a weight can give interesting results. I recently got a whole carrier bag full of sprouts. Not too costly, but a timely reminder!
Somerfield (in Scotland) do a delivery service, but you have to be there to get your shopping, but it saves arm ache and unlike Tesco it's free if you spend over �25.00. P.S. Coggles have you had your little op yet, I have been thinking about you?

I shall give it go then! Thanks for asking about 'op' P.G. I had bone marrow sample taken on Friday, with sedation, so only felt the needle once it hit the bone! That isn't the reason I am not able to shop when I want - a deer managed to wreck hubbys car so he is using mine 'til we get another one sorted out!!!
I suppose it's too much to ask hubby to do shopping on the way home.Yeah thought so.
I've had a bad experience with Tesco shopping. Any fresh fruit and vegetables bought were not chosen as I would have chosen myself ie quite often the battered bruised ones that no-one else wanted. Similarly dented tins etc. Also, if the item is out of stock you can give them permission to choose a similar item or not. They then choose an item at twice the price! I would advise against it, straight afterwards we had to go to Sainsburys, buy fresh fruit and veg and the things that Tesco were out of!
Iceland sent me stuff that was either out of date or with a few days left.I think it can be a bit hit and miss and in the future I would get a delivery once a month for household stuff, dry foodstuffs, cordials, etc. then visit the store for a weekly 'fresh' shop!

Unfortunately Asda don't deliver in our area, so I shall look into other stores. Archbishop, hubby rings me every night when he finishes work to see if there is anything we need and he picks it up. I do think asking him to do a full weeks shop after working a 12 hour day is a bit cheeky! He would do it if I asked him though.
My missus actually did a spell as an internet shopper for Sainsbury's, and I think it will depend on who does the shop for you. She tried to be as fair as she could: picked goods in good condition, with the longest expiry dates, and replacements that were suitable etc. However, some of the other shoppers (often through ignorance/lack of thought rather than laziness) would do things like put in non-vegetarian friendly goods when the rest of the order was obviously for a vegetarian household.
I had a bad experience recently, but I think that was my fault. Somehow some order pages just went missing, I hadn't been able to check my order on the puter as it was my first one. What did arrive tho was great. My friend uses it all the time, even gets calls when something is not available. Good luck.

I think I shall give it a go and see what quality the fresh produce is, and if it turns out not to be as I would choose, but otherwise a reliable service, I will then use it for non-consumables in future......
