My laptop has been repaired and came back today... my bro is trying to set it up (while I am using his laptop.. hehe).. but the little wireless box it popping up in the corner saying 'wireless connection has been detected. To connect to the internet, click here'.. then I click on it and a box appear with the wireless connection and you click on 'connect'.. its the only option it gives you... and then once it tries to connect it then says it can't as internet might be out of range and I must refresh list! Any ideas? My bro is trying to punch in the wep key right now!
Hey Ruby, What ISP is he with, how is it connected, modem/router?
Was there an installation disk that came with the ISP/router bundle.
If the laptop came back after repair the previous settings may have been deleted. Some ISP's load connection software on the machine to aid connection to the router or modem it may just need re-installed.
If so, take the laptop to the router itself, and try to connect there. If you have a WEP key (or more ideally, WPA key) set up, then you'll need to enter that too. Then that should be it.
I did that and it kept picking up signal and then when i connected it wouldn't connect! At the moment I am using the Ethernet cable! but the wireless is having issues! Lol.
I couldn't find the bit where I put the web key in though. It did find my connection name though.
