A friend of mine says its complete twaddle but i believe the tide affects the wind levels, one or two people i know say its definaltey true but i cant seem to find a name for the effect, nor a reference to it on the net..

Im talking about it being quite windy, but then the tide turns and the wind dissapears. or the reverse.

Thanks in advance

Hi
The sea is slow to change it;s temp but the land temp changes quite quickly, warming in the sun. cooling at night, if the land is warmer than the sea cool air from the sea moves onshore to replace rising air on the land (on shore breeze) and the reverse at night..now this is accentuated when the tide comes in as more mass of water causes a larger temp gradient causes more breeze and the reverse at low water...quite complexed when you add spring tides and neaps, also the normal wind patterns that prevail with Hig and Low pressure systems to the equation....

Cheers
John
