mobile phone tracking
5 Answers
Is there any way of finding out if my company supplied mobile phone is being tracked? I suspect my employer is tracking me which I believe is easy to do but as I don't own the phone I don't see how I can confirm it?
Does a tracking system drain the phone battery more than usual? I have been issued with a new phone and when I insert my sim card, the battery drains down within a day even on standby. I have tried changing the battery with others that I know are in perfect working order, and they drain down quickly in this phone too. If I take the card out and leave the phone alone, or if I put another compatable sim card in it the batteries last a week as they should.
In short, it appears that only my employers sim card causes the battery to drain down quickly.
Am I being paranoid?
Please help. Thanks.

In short, they send a text message to your phone asking you if it's ok to respond with your locaion. if you decline it is apparently outside the law to do so. Depends on how unscrupulous your boss is perhaps!
To tell if you're being tracked, try taking it to work with you but telling the boss you've left it at home. Then go and do something you shouldn't!!

Sorry cam ... not correct
"cell" is the key ... as you move around your phone is constantly "checking in" to the nearest transmitter (put the phone on your TV or near a radio and you'll see the regular pulses being transmitted)
Otherwise how would your phone ever ring?
once it does ring ... the phone is pinpointed ... and when answered - the transmitters follow the phone - passing it from one cell to the next.to maintain contact
so tracking is actually how the system works - not an "added extra"
Woll - as to whether you're being tracked ... possibly
you accept the phone ... you accept the conditions
Some companies have it written in the terms of employment - generally for the "safety" of their guys
you doing anything "good" ... or just general paranoia?

You can check if your mobile is being tracked at http://www.mobilelocators.com. They can look it up for you. You should also have received a text message according to http://www.traceamobile.com. The tracking part is done via the nearest phone mast so will not affect battery performance in any way.
Thanks for the answers. It appears I cant be tracked without my knowledge. Although I have nothing to hide, I dont trust my employer and I would find it a liberty if they were doing it with or without telling me.
I am just left with the mystery of why this particular sim card drains my battery down then.
Thanks again.
