Is it possible to re- record a dvd region 1 (USA) and make it a Region 2 (Europe) and watchable? Are there specialist shops and if so, what type of shop would that be?

To be honest, it would be easier for you to make your DVD player Region free and then it will play any discs you like....handy cos it's a one off cost rather than every region 1,3 etc disc you buy...

I used a site that sent out a disc and you played it once and that was it...you had to type in a code. I kinda believe the code was all you needed but they charges more with the disc lol...but even though it cost me twenty quid it was sell spent... Have a look at this site...you can unlock your player for 2.49 at the moment....or you can google for other sites like this...Many free too...but it's a risk that you could knacker your player if it's not a trusted company.

Sorry...3.49

That sounds just the ticket, so will search for the manual to find out machine no. I know once before it played "White Christmas" when no other machine would and that was supposedly a region 1 disc, so will have a look. If not then this site will be brill. Thanks so much.
You could always copy it using dvd shrink, the resultant copied disc will have no region code at all and be playable in any player.
