Why is it when I recieve an e-mail with an attachment, when I open it and click onto the arrows at the bottom I get a load of disjointed pictures from previous sites I've browsed (or have'nt browsed)?

These are from your "temporary internet files" which Windows, in its infinite presumption, is saving to speed things up if you should happen to want to return to the sites they came from. I always suspected that the XP stood for "extremely patronising" - now I know! You can (and should) get rid of this rubbish by clicking on Tools>internet options>delete browsing history>delete files.
