Or anyone, for that matter...Please can you tell me how a crown is fitted in your mouth & does the process hurt?

Also, my dentist has quoted me nearly 300 for this pleasure, can I get it done anywhere else for less or free (hospital etc ??)

Thanking anyone in advance...& happy new year to y'all.

It is a cosmetic procedure so you certainly won't get it free.

Read all about crowns here:

do you have an nhs dentist? if so it shouldnt cost more than 195 pounds
It costs 1000 average here in Ireland, plus root canal at about 300 plus your visits at 60 a pop (takes about 3 visits). I make that somewhere in the region of 1000 - but i know where to go if i ever need another...!
If you have an NHS dentist, you can get it on the NHS and, as bedknobs says, it costs about 195. I'm just about to have one done, and I've already paid the bill. I don't know if all dentists work the same way, but mine drilled out the tooth and put a temporary filling in which lasted me over Christmas. Now I have to go back to have an impression taken, and then go again to have the temporary filling removed and the crown fitted. I've had them done before, and no, it doesn't hurt.
Have a holiday in Greece and get it done while you're here. It will cost between 180 and 250 Euros, and probably be of better quality.
If you are going to Thailand or India for your holidays it will be very much cheaper.I have had 17 implants done in Poona for under half the price[ including air fares and hotel for 2 trips] they quoted in UK.
