I have just bought myself a small DVB usb dongle (to quote the flimsy). It will record digital programmes with ease.
Does anybody know if I can use it to record from vhs tapes using this latest bit of kit, and if so how?

Many thanks

If it is one like this then the answer is no, they are designed to enable you to record terrestrial broadcast tv and have no analogue video / audio inputs.

To record from VHS onto a computer you will need something like this. It bives you the ability to capture analogue audio / video via your USB connection

Dazzle used to do one as a PCI card, but I can only find the firewire version which is not what you want.
Do you have more info eg model number? The only thing I say is that domestic quality VHS to DVD converters do give a lower resolution. My advice would be go for a professional transfer company. They are really cheap these days, this company http://www.video-to-dvd.co.uk/transfer/vhs_to_ dvd_or_avi.html did mine for 10 a tape. They optimise the colour and sound etc for the same price.
