DVD/CD Burning Question

Whenever I try to burn projects such as Photo Slide Shows/Video CD's using my Nero Vision Express program, It always gets stuck at the final "Writing lead-in" part. I have left projects overnight before (12hrs) and no way does the program finish the burn process and I have to cancel. Im no expert but 12hrs does sound an excessive amount of time to burn a cd so something somewhere is going wrong with the program. Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or how to solve the problem. Any help would be greatfully appreciatted

Possibly try reinstalling Nero. I think they have a special tool on their website for making sure all is removed first. Something else might have altered Nero since you last installed it.

Have you kept up to date with Windows updates?

My Windows is bang up to date so I dont think its that. I will remove Nero and reinstall it like you suggest. Could it be a compatibility issue here. It used to run ok on my old Windows 98 PC with no issues. The Nero prog is (Nero StartSmart) and I bought it a while a go (2yrs)

Which version of Nero? 5, 6, 7 or later? Have you downloaded the Nero updates from their site?

I dont know which version it is. It dos'nt say. Its OEM suite 1 if thats any help?

how old is your CD burner, they only have a finite life.

If you have xp try burning something using XP's built in CD burning. to do this right click on a file/folder you want to burn and select send to, then select your cd drive. then go to my computer and double click the cd drive and select burn files.

if this works then it a nero problem, if not you may have a faulty cd burner.
