Internet Home Page
8 Answers
Everytime I switch my computer on the Internet home page has reset itself from the BBC to Google. I know how to change it back via Tools - Internet options, but the problem is the PC doesn't remember this once it is turned off. Anyone know why and how to solve the problem?

Thanks for your answers guys, but i don't think we have solved the problem. I don't have the Google toolbar as a default, so I don't think that is causing the problem. The firewall/anti virus protection that I use is PC Guard supplied by Virgin Media. I have checked through this thorougly and cannot find any settings that affect the home page. Probably also related to the same problem is the fact that any web addresses that I type in are also lost from the drop down menu as well as the home page.

Yes I have run a spyware/virus scan. It always seems to find new threats which are either deleted or quarantined but it still doesn't remove the problem. I have a white cross in a red circle in the bottom RH corner of the screen which when clicked says that Windows has detected spyware infection but PC Guard seems unable to get rid of this. Do you think this is the cause of the problem?

The first link to "trendmicro" did not clear the problem but the 2nd link to the spyware removal got rid of the error message in the bottom RH corner. I have since logged off and on again and the BBC was still the homepage. So it looks loke the problem is solved. Thanks to all who replied to the post, especially neildown (don't believe that's your real name).
