Turning over a diesel engine

Being new to deisels. When setting valve clearances on a diesel engine do you remove the glow plugs to assist turning the engine over ? As on a petrol engine I would remove the spark plugs

you dont have to but it does make it a bit easier, bearing in mind that glowplugs are a bit more fidgety to get access to than spark plugs on some models
