I am short-sighted and have to wear glasses.
I occassionally wear daily disposable contacts whenver I feel the need for them.

I'm going to Mexico for a beach holiday in September.
Now I don't want to wear glasses whilst on the beach/swimming in the pool/sea.

Are there are solutions other than pescribed goggles?

Should I just wear my contacts and try not to get them wet?

I wear contacts and go swimming every week I just dont go under. I totally forgot about them at weekend though when I went to center parcs and went under at the end of one of the slides with my eyes open. Stung a little but then it would if I didnt have them in. I;d say just be careful when swimming but should be fine. take a spare pair out with you. x
contacts with normal goggles.

didnt take much thinking did it?
If you haven't already done so, get yourself a pair of prescription shades, which you will need anyway. Unless you're Mr.Magoo, you surely won't need to wear contacts for swimming and as soon as you come out of the water you can put your shades on again. A lot easier and cooler looking than struggling with contacts and risking sand in your eyes.
I am not MR Magoo and I need mine!!! lol
The reason that wearing contact lenses - particularly disposables - is not recommended for swimmimg is due to the infection risk. As they have a high water content, they will absorb water from the pool and then because they are in contact wit your eye, could cause eye infections.

Do you have a particular issue with presciption goggles?
Re: above.
My wife is a swimming teacher and has pretty poor sight. She invested in a pair of prescription goggles before a trip to Sharm El Sheikh last year and they totally transformed the holiday. Loads of people wear goggles whenever they swim indoor or out so you wouldn't look out of place.
I bought Mr thugulike a pair of prescription goggles on t'internet. They work like a dream and he can see perfectly in the sea
My 8 year old has a pair as he is very shortsighted - they only cost 27 and they have really transformed his swimming - next stop the olympics!
