At one time in the US, it was thought that "Joe Camel", the hipster sunglass-wearing cartoon dromedary used to promote Camel cigarettes was aimed at teens.  They sold all sorts of Joe Camel merchandise, and it became something of a status item among young adults (like Tommy Hilfiger or FUBU).
