I made a Bailey's cheesecake a few weeks ago which turned out very nice. I used digestive biscuits for the base that time. I'm just thinking of trying something new if I make another and was wondering would ginger nuts work as a base?

that would definitely work for me. if you do a dummy run, I'll be happy to sample it!

I'm just thinking about the consistency of the base. Digestives are much more crumbly whereas ginger nuts seem harder and crunchier. Wasn't sure if it would work as a base, thought it may end up too hard or something.
I'll take any that's left after that lot ^^
I don't know if it would hold together as well as digestives, but I'd be interested to know, I love gingernuts!
So do I....lol
LOL @ ummmm..... the AB Ginger nut appreciation society
Ooh sounds lovely, can I join the queue?
Oh, rather! It sounds scrummy.

(as long as I don't have to help make it ... cos then it would taste like poop)
i recently made a dessert from jamies 30 minute menus which was individual cheese cake type things, the base was ginger nuts and hazlenuts all blitzed up in melted butter. it was very nice but was a bit harder than a digestive base, perfectly acceptable though.
i use ginger nuts instead of digestives for key lime pie base, its lovely so im sure it would work with baileys cheese cake, or maybe you could do half ginger nuts and half chocolate digestive :-)
To be honest I don't actually like ginger nuts of the biscuit variety...!!
Try adding Ginger powder to you digestives.
dip the gingers into soft cream & jam - voila....raw cheesecake
Stop....you're giving me disturbing images :-)

Btw Flob...I think it'll work well :-)

By jove I think I'll do it. I'd feel terrible now if I didn't seeing as there'll be so many takers.
I quite often either do half and half ginger and digestives, or put powdered ginger in the digestives. I intend, when I feel really flush, using Borders chocolate gingers as a base, they're heavenly. Can't stand Baileys, so can I come and eat the base?
What a waste of ginger nuts.
I often do use ginger nuts as a base just because we like the taste, very good with a chocolate cheesecake or mississippi mud pie
I always use gingernuts if I'm making a banoffee pie.
