Last week I bought a lamp for outside my front door from Wilkinsons in Kingston, Surrey. It cost about £10.00 and as it worked very week, I went back today to buy another one for the back. There was one on the shelf-same reference number-same wattage and most important-same price.
On the way home, I was looking at the receipt- checking that I had got everything I needed for the job and and noticed that the lamp was now £16. I took it back and was told by their `Customer Services Dept` that the price was correct and perhaps somebody has swapped the tickets and an assistant manager finally conceded that this was a case of confusion.
This store opens after a major re-furb next Thursday and my only advice to customers is that they check their receipts before leaving the store.

The price you are legally agreeing to is the one that goes through the till, which you should have been clearly able to see at the tillpoint, it is often better to look at the LED display on the till before paying for your purchases. People who work in shops are only human and most stores are understaffed and highly task driven, with a heavy workload, they don't just stand on a till serving customers all day,
Thank you Dotty for your comments- wish I would understand except that this product was not `on offer` and in these times of recession no retail business increase their prices by 50 per cent. I`ve always been told that the price shown on the shelf is the price you pay. As the Queen of retail (Mary Portas) always says - If you don`t complain, then nothing ever gets done. Please dont say that she should never have any Air time.
