I signed up to broadband, with Wanadoo, they supplied a speedtouch modem 330 - Which works the first time you connect to the internet every time - However if you disconnect the broadband connection and later return to the computer and click on speedtouch - IT NEVER connects, unless I restart my computer (wdws98se)

After severals phones calls to Wanadoo they finally tested the line and reported the modem was in synch.

Does anyone have any other ideas - Please !

Thanks

Seems to be a 'feature' of some ADSL modems connected via USB.

Question - Why disconnect the broadband modem if you are not powering off the PC ?

Have you tried downloading and installing the latest drivers for this modem ?

Is your broadband connected directly into your pc'sUSB port, or do you use a hub? I have a laptop which only has 2 USB ports, but I have 4 external devices. If I plug my broadband into the hub and then remove it whilst connected,I have to reboot to get the connection back, but if I do the same with the laptops USB port, the broadband reconnects ok.I have absolutely no idea why this happens, I just assumed it was because my laptop only has the old USB1 ports.

Yes, Already updated/reinstalled the drives & the USB port is plugged directly into the modem.

I switched my PC on this morning & when I came home today my broadband would not work, until I rebooted the PC.

The error message I am getting is no dial tone, but the modem shows two solid green lights !
