Recently our BT broadband connection keeps dropping out. Sometimes it's only a few seconds before it comes back but sometimes it goes on for much longer. Almost by accident we discovered that if we call our landline from a mobile phone the broadband comes back! This has happened 7 times over the past 3 days!! any explanation/ideas how to cure the irritating problem (don't particularly want to spend an hour on the phone to India and BT broadband support)

Have you tried switching the router off/on? Don't know if you had power cuts during the storm, if you did maybe that has something to do with it.
When I had this problem it was the router that needed replacing (and yes it worked again every time we switched it off then on but that becomes a pain). Have you had the router a long time?

Turning the router off and on doesn't work. We didn't have power cuts during Monday's storm and the problem started before that. The BT hub is about 5 years old.
We had a similar problem recently (before the storms) and a quick call to BT informed us that they already knew there was a problem in the area and it was being dealt with. Didn't get an Indian call centre either, thankfully.
