If a policy is cancelled immediately on the death of the policy holder it leads to an interesting situation if the death occurs whilst out in the car; the car is immediately on the road uninsured so, technically, someone can be prosecuted. In any case, the car cannot be kept on the public roads until new insurance is taken out. I wonder if this case was considered when the law on insurance for cars on a public road was changed a few years ago and allowance made for it.
