I have just tried to get cover for a 45 day trip to Thailand in February with my usual provider 'OK To Travel', they have quoted me around £900 which is astronomical, I went on the similar trip (25 days) just a few weeks ago in November and I paid £180, why the big hike in price, is it because I turn 75 on January 1st?
Has anyone of my age any recommendations for purchasing travel insurance, thanks in advance.
Corby - I have just put all my details into Money Saving Expert travel insurance and the cheapest quote I got was from - OK To Travel, £268, yet yesterday they were quoting me treble that!
I have bought that particular insurance.
Thanks for your help everyone, it does pay to shop around!
Corby - I read somewhere, I think it was Money Saving Expert, where it said that older people should only take single trip policies, as it does work out cheaper, I only take 2 holidays a year and I used to always obtain a yearly travel insurance, now I have switched to single trip. As soon as you hit 75, POW, the price sky rockets!
Yes, there are some insurance companies in Thailand that offer travel insurance for over 75 year olds. Some of these companies include AIG Thailand, Chubb, and Siam City Insurance.
