Cheap Car Insurance

I'm a 20 year old female student and I want to insure my car so I can have it at uni. I've been under my Dad's insurance so far so I've got zero no-claims. I've had offers from �650-1250 so far. What is good, what's a good company to go with? It's a 1.6 Rover, S reg.

I think �650 is quite good really my daughters away at uni shes 22 has 4 years no claims owns a 1.1 saxo and paid last time around �400 with Churchill fully comp as Norman says Ive heard that Quinn Direct are pretty good on young females it may be a good idea to have your car insured at home adress if its a lower risk area than which ever Uni your going to I presume you will be going home for summer break /Easter and the odd weekend so the car would be at home adress quite a lot of the time.

I tried Quinn direct and they weren't very cheap I'm afraid. The cheapest quote I received was from Admiral's. But I have no idea if they are a good company to go for or not.

I have my pass-plus and everything but most insurers don't even ask if you have it!

The Pass Plus is a very good scheme for training drivers and having taken it I am sure it has improved you driving ability to a standard above that required on a standard L test.

Unfortunately the insurance companies who offer discounts for achieving Pass Plus are some of the most expensive in the industry.

Admiral is a reputable company and if it is the cheapest take it but make sure you read all the small print as there may be exclusions (which there are in all insurance policies) that you don't want to discover after having to make a claim.

Beware of Admiral and associated companies in the event of a total loss. I would second CIS, usually good for young drivers.

I'll second NORMANTHEDOG's suggestion to try CIS. They seem to be the cheapest, and you get to deal with a real person (they will send a rep around to your home to arrange the policy.)
