mcAfee subscription query

Hi, My 60day McAfee subscription is nearing its deadline and I definitely want to re-subscribe. However, just to complicate things I have seen McAfee protection for 3 pcs on offer which would be fantastic for me but I am unsure what to do about the 60 day subscription I already have on my laptop. Do I simply buy the protection for 3 pc's, uninstall Norton from my computer and download McAfee (this bit sounds quite straight forward) but what do I do about the 60 day McAfee subscription already on my laptop, do I uninstall that too then download the new McAfee protection or would the new downloaded McAfee overwrite it? Sorry if this is confusing...I am really confused...and I need all the help I can get, please help!

This is true of all software, not just McAfee or other security software.
While new software SHOULD overwrite old software OK it can cause problems so I feel it is always best to remove the old software first.

Hi, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to answer my question.
VHG: I have a pc which has Norton already as its protection (which is due to expire within the next 3 months) but as I much prefer McAfee I was going to replace the Norton when I buy the McAfee for 3 PCs.
Hope this extra info helps x
