Hi

I have just been involved in an accident. In traffic, as i was coming to a halt, a car drove into the back of me. The impact caused me to crash into the rear of the car in front. i have just received a letter of claim from the driver in front i crashed into. Surely this not my fault? i had kept a reasonable distance. I was still moving and about to come to a halt therefore had not my handbrake. Please could somebody tell me what the liability issues are??

Thanks

the driver in front of you claims from you, your insurance company will recover the costs by claiming from the driver that hit you.
He has to claim from you. He isn't in a position to decide exactly who initiated the bump.
Exactly. Technically, you hit him so he has to claim from you. Your insurance will sort it out and pass all the blame onto the car behind you. Don't worry, just let the insurance company do their job.
complete bollux above.

This happenned to me and the guy who hit me paid for all concerned. Just pass on the insurers details of the guy that hit you to the guy in front. Do not even bother disclussing it or disclosing your insurance details.
its not your fault though but you hit him from the rear i happened to me 2 weeks ago told the same thing .sorry the law sucks
