I have been offered a final settlement compensation of £1000 for an incident where I suffered cuts bruises and swelling to my knee after falling down an uncovered man hole. I have no idea if this is a reasonable offer or not, could anyone advise?

Surely, you saw the manhole was open? I would think it lucky you managed to screw £1000 out of them.
You fell down an uncovered manhole?
I'd invest that grand wisely, you may wanna start at Specsavers!

Christ if 'id fallen down a manhole i'd be more worried that somebody saw me fall, than whether I could make a claim?
As you said you recieved £1000 for a couple of cuts, bruises and swelling to my knee.
I'd say you done pretty well there.
reasonable is any figure that equals your losses when the fault was with someone else.

squarebear/bobjugs12.. If you have not go a decent reply dont bother replying. It was a manhole cover about 1 foot by 1 foot and it was on a pavement at night in an street with no light, so before you judge get all the facts... p.s eye sight is perfect thanks. I am not after screwing money out of anyone but did get injured...
Did you lose wages ?
Did you incur any expenses 'because' of the fall ?
Have you sustained long-term damage to your knee ?
From whom have you won the money ?
I hate the compensation society that we have become. 'if someones to blame you have a claim'. Load of rubbish, watch where your going.
So did you lose £1000 as a result of your inability to walk without falling down?

I thought this website was called "the answer bank" not give abuse bank. Like I said If you have not got an answer dont reply. I hate compensation culture but this was a genuine claim. I ruined my clothing and had severe cuts bruising swellig and discomfort for several weeks. Its not like I could see the hole or tripped over somethign obvious, as I said it was an uncovered hole at night with no street lighting.
You could always answer my questions...........
M1969 i have answered you. Only you would know what you extra expenses or loss of money was
Whoops, SB, we've been told mate.

I am so sorry M1969. My mistake. Sorry, yes you should be part of the culture that is causing all of our insurance premiums to rise.

What ever happened to "Damn, I fell over. Oh well. No one ever died from cuts, bruises and swollen knees"

redcrx/jackthehat, that was not aimed at you it was the other judgemental creatins who put sarcsic comments.
Aah jackthehat are you an injury lawyer or do you have knowledge of injury laws?
How did you lose £1000 from your misadventures?
M1969, I've got a suggestion. Dry your eyes princess, man up, and zip in a spine!!
If I fell down a manhole cover and injured myself I would have to go sick from work and when I go sick from work I lose about 1/3 of my salary so I would be claiming it back because why should I be out of pocket thanks to council negligence?
I probably wouldn`t claim if I was not out of pocket though.
M1969 if I was you I would accept the claim because if you challenge it, you might come out with less.
Wow Jack.....I think Micky has joined your fan club.....
I thankyou for your interest , Micky, but I was talking sensibly to the OP.
(There are other threads available for you to be insulting on..........)
Fanclub? No i just wanted some advice for a situation I was involved in and wanted to see whether jack was a qualified lawyer or not.
