Try the Post office policy - but you need to be sure that it will cover you worldwide. I doubt you will get anything quite so specific as flying to another country, they are more likely to fly you home by air ambulance if anything as drastic as that happens. I think it's very unlikely that any standard travel policy will just cover sickness - most people are interested in cover if your flight is delayed or if you lose your baggage or money while you're away. You might need to go to a specialist broker. Why don't you want the general cover? - to me that's just as important.

i thought that i'd get reimbursed for that if it does happen by the airline? ovulessly not then lol!! . ooh!! the post office is a good idea and i think they're quite trustworthy too. Imma have a look now, thank you
Not automatically, you need your own insurance - the airline wouldn't cover you if your luggage is stolen or if you lose money while you're away. The airline would probably only give you money under very specific circumstances. Those people waiting at the airport at the money are (so far) only getting food and a blanket!
Flexicover are OK. I always use them for my Mum. It`s simple to book and pay for over the internet and you can print your certificate off straight away. Make sure you click the bit that says Worldwide inc USA and Caribbean
You are most unlikely to get a tailor made policy along the lines you describe. Or if you do it will be more expensive than the “off the peg” policies widely available.

Apart from sickness cover and the items that others have mentioned you should also consider cancellation protection in case you or anybody travelling with you has to drop out due to illness. A comprehensive policy will cover all this.
