I'm a 40 year old head gardener and whilst i love my job and where i work, i am just not earning enough money. I work for the council and we're all going to be restructured soon....i've had a good tip off from a senior manager who i play football with that my wages are going to drop.

So it's got me worried....i could lose my house etc. I've thought about a complete career change, into IT of some description. However, although i know my way around a computer, i don't know what kind of IT jobs are out there, what training i would need and what annual saleries i can expect.

If anyone could give any advice or at least point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated

Thanks

Don't leap into something unless you're sure it's better.
If they change your conditions for the worse you surely have the option of leaving with redundancy money.
Best of luck with thinking about it so that you know what your options are if it happens.
I do not know the area you live but I do know that there are a lot of Police Forces, or British Transport police are on the look out for Police Community Support Officers. They do prefer applicants to have previous experience of life and the role is not too demanding, and he wages are not bad. Enquire with your local force and see what happens
Have a look at the learndirect website and you can search any job on there. They give you all the info you need on jobs, e.g. qualifications, skills, average pay and hours, etc. and they also give helpful organisations to get in touch with.
