Career change when you're 38?

I'm a biologist/chemist and thinking of going to school for next 2 year to become a security specialist or software developer(I have some knowledge of web development). It seems like there is more opportunities...Is it worth it? Especially, I want to hear I.T. professionals opinion. Thank you!

Your present career seems rarer than IT. The Far/Middle East offer most competition in IT......and cheaper labor.
