my ex wants my car please help
12 Answers
hello, could someone please help me. my ex and i got a car around two years ago he paid most of the money for it and it was put into my name straight away because he hasnt got a licence. we had a bad break up last year where he was threatening me and my family and saying he wanted my car. anyway he got that bad that i gave him the car because the police said i didnt have a choice. he parked it in a neighbours garden for months while me and my 4 children had to walk everywhere in the winter. he did at the time have a pickup, a van and my car. yes he drives every single day and doesnt have a licence, when he took the car the first time the police knew he didnt have a licence but did nothing about it. anyway my sister lent me the money to buy a new car which was dropping to bits and eventually he gave me my car back. i lost out on tax, and have been left with a lovely bill from my insurance company for cancelling. i pay for everything for the car, getting it fixed, mot, tax and insurance and now he's starting with me again and says he wants my car back. my children and i rely on this car so much, im on benefits at college studying and cant afford to go through all of this again, he's a bricklayer, still driving around in his van and likes to rub in the fact that he has plenty of money. he has my spare key too and he refuses to give me it back, when he's not starting on me its 'yes of course the car is yours' and 'i would never take it away from you again'. can someone please tell me if there is anything at all i can do.
thankyou for listening

Phone and report him while you know he is driving, give the reg and destination, tell them you've reported before and if they don't stop him you are going to the press, your local MP and local paper, say something along the lines of "if a child is killed and they knew...." might be a bluff but they won't take the chance. As to ownership it says on the logbook that being the registered keeper is not proof of ownership so I don't know how that would be resolved without small claims court but I've seen enough Judge Judy to know whoever turns up with the most evidence in their favour wins!....good luck hun x
Point taken, ummmm, just a gut reaction I suppose.
Angellee - He sounds like a right charmer and enjoys having power over you. I know it would be really hard but could you tell him to stick it and have nothing to do with him? Or borrow the money from family to but your own car? - you obviously manage well by paying tax, insurance etc. Good luck!

What a mess. Now you have learned about control freaks.
What did you do with 'your' car? Sell it again?
If that is his car .. you will have to give it back .. again... and learn from the experience.
Only accept things of value .. like cars .. are totally yours .. if you get a receipt or can prove they have actually been given you.
(and get rid of him ... sounds like a right a$$hole)
Don't bother with the reporting thing .. you're wasting your time. They need to catch him.
